Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to complete reorganisation of existing 150 wards and publication of electoral rolls process by December 15. The civic body has also chalked out a 44-day action plan in this regard.

The GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Monday said the civic body had already published the preliminary draft notification of reorganised wards and called for suggestions. The GHMC would dispose of claims and objection within 10 days and a draft would be sent to the State government on November 15. After completing the delimitation process, the civic body would conduct a door-to-door survey for 15 days to identify of Backward Class voters as per the guidelines issued in GO 444 January 4, 2001. A draft publication of electoral rolls would be made available at all GHMC, RDO and MRO offices.

A copy also would be given to all registered political parties for suggestions and objections, he added. After receiving the claims from both political parties and citizens, GHMC would send the proposals to the State government. After specifying the number of seats to be reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and women, wards shall be set apart under reserved category. The State government after examining the proposals would release election notification on December 15.
