Court slaps 1,000 penalty on Sub-Registrar

A two judge bench of the High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt on Tuesday directed Ranga Reddy District Joint Sub Registrar Mohammad Yusuf to either pay the Rs 1,000 penalty imposed on him or go to jail for seven days.

The bench was dealing with an appeal filed by the Sub- Registrar. Employees of the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) Employees Cooperative Housing Society had approached the court, contending that the authorities had failed to implement an earlier memo of the High Court.

A single judge had directed the Sub-Registrar to pay the amount or undergo imprisonment. Aggrieved by the order of the single judge, the present appeal was filed.
