Hyderabad: There appears to be a change of heart following the change of guard in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Taking note of the story published in The Hans India on October 29, the new Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday ordered the officials to prepare an action plan for distribution of auto rickshaws to health and Sanitation workers without affecting the livelihood of those who depend on tricycles to collect garbage.

The Commissioner told the officials that every issue of the sanitation workers should be examined before taking up distribution of auto trolleys.

Following this, Deputy Commissioners on Tuesday held special meetings with sanitation workers at circle level and assured them that their livelihood would not be affected even if the auto trolleys were introduced. The officials told them not to become panicky as the civic body would address every issue and the apprehensions they had raised.

They also told them that priority would be given to the sanitation workers having cycle rickshaws to distribute auto trolleys if they can afford it. If more than one worker applies for an auto trolley from the same cluster (part of a ward), allocation would be done on the lottery system, the GHMC officials said.
