Hyderabad: Communist Party of India (CPI) Telangana State secretary and former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy on Wednesday appealed to political parties to support Left party candidate G Vinod Kumar in the Warnagal bypoll to avoid split in anti-government votes.
Addressing a press conference at Makhdoom Bhavan along with former MP Aziz Pasha here, he said that there was a possibility of split in anti-government votes if these parties contested separately. As there was a danger of the TRS gaining in the elections if these parties contested separately, the latter should support Vinod Kumar, he said.
Venkat Reddy alleged that the ruling party could not keep its manifesto promises. He found fault with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for ignoring the plight of unending suicides by farmers. The government should take steps to prevent the suicides, else the rural community would curse the rulers, he said.
Reddy also said that the Chief Minister was yet to find funds for crop loan waiver which was adding to farmers’ woes. Three acres to Scheduled Castes, housing facility for the poor were some of the schemes yet to reach the needy, he deplored. Since the KCR government failed to implement its promises, the people were revolting against the government, he said.
