Hyderabad: Following the rude shock the BJP-led NDA suffered in the Bihar elections, the BJP-TDP combine after quick consultations on Sunday decided to adopt a different strategy in the Warangal byelection to be held on November 21.

The meeting was attended by T TDP president L Ramana and BJP Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy and Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatraya. The leaders felt that the Bihar election results would exercise their impact on Warangal bypoll and hence they should adopt a new strategy to combat it.

The TRS has already adopted an aggressive posture as the BJP suffered a severe blow in Bihar. While Minister for Panchyat Raj K T Rama Rao said the people cannot be attracted by promise of delivering “packages” but would deliver judgement based on the work the government was doing for them. The Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the Bihar results were a slap in the face for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The same trend would be witness in Warangal bypoll too, he said. The Congress, despite facing uphill task following the mysterious death of former MP Sircilla Rajaiah’s daughter-in- law and her three sons, would intensify its campaign on growing intolerance in the country.

In the backdrop of this situation, the BJP and TDP feel that they should not resort to taking jibes at the rival parties as was done by the NDA leaders during the campaign for Bihar elections but focus on highlighting the development mantra of Narendra Modi.

While the BJP will speak about various initiatives taken by Modi during the last 19 months and the smart city status to Warangal, the TDP will take a different line and will highlight the measures the party had taken to develop Telangana during its earlier regime in the undivided AP.

Kishan Reddy said the two parties would conduct door-to-door campaign in every village and mandal headquarters on the development of Telangana. All the senior leaders from the two parties have been invited. From Monday onwards the campaign will be intensified.
