They were taken into custody for questioning and based on their confession, coupled with the evidence gathered by the police, the arrests were carried out, the police said. “Rafeeq, Hasim, Kareem and Saleem, hailing from Rohingya region in Myanmar, illegally entered India sometime ago and came to Hyderabad. They developed acquaintance with some persons in the city and managed to get fake identification cards with the help of brokers. On a tip-off, they were arrested,” said Bahadurpura inspector Harish Koushik.

The police have booked cases against the accused under Section 370, section 476, section 474, section 473, section 109 of IPC, Section 12 (1) (b) (d) of Passport Act, Section 14 (a) (b) (c) of Foreigners Act, Section 10 and section 24 of Immigration Act and Section 3 of Passport reentry Act. The arrested will be produced in the court on Monday, the police said. Later, the police are planning to move a petition in the court for remanding of the accused in their custody for further interrogation.

According to the latest records provided by the Cyberabad police in August 2015, the refugees from Myanmar, mostly Rohingyans, were staying in 10 different locations in Hyderabad and Cyberabad. As many as 298 persons were staying in Balapur Camp - I, 300 members in Balapur Camps II and III, 214 at Pahadishareef, 160 in Royal Colony, 258 near Fatima Masjid in Balapur, 412 persons in Kanchanbagh and Barkas areas, 51 in Chandrayangutta, 29 in Mailardevpally and 153 in Bahadurpura police station limits. The Police Commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad alerted the government time and again that the refugees were acquiring fake identification cards and it would pose a threat to security.
