Hyderabad: A 60-year-old man, who was arrested for raping a 12-year-old girl at Nalanda School hostel in 2014, was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a local court on Thursday. The Nampally Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge on Thursday convicted the then hostel warden Hari Gopal (60) under the Nirbhaya Act registered against him at SR Nagar Police Station.
On December 22, 2014, Hari Gopal raped a sixth standard girl in the hostel. Based on the complaint lodged by the girl, the SR Nagar Police had arrested him. The Court in its judgement pronounced its judgement directing the accused to undergo 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for the sexual assault.
