The Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) has decided to strengthen its base in the city in view of the forthcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

Addressing a meeting of party leaders and workers at Rahmat Mansion in Chanchalguda on Sunday, MBT President Dr Khayam Khan said that the entire Old City was engulfed in several problems.

“Instead of resolving the issues being faced by the public, the MIM leaders are working for personal gains. The TRS government has completely neglected the Old City,” Khayam said. He added that the TRS Government has failed to fulfill the promises it had made with the Muslim community especially with regard to the 12 per cent reservation.

He said that despite completion of 18 months in power, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has totally failed to address a single issue concerning Muslims in Telangana.

Khayam noted that the people under the GHMC limits would teach a fitting lesson to the MIM and TRS for their failures. MBT Spokesperson Majeed Ullah Khan asked the workers to gear up for the GHMC elections and said that despite being in the opposition, the MBT had always raised people's issues without any fear.

He added that money and muscle power were being used to suppress the MBT. He however expressed confidence that the MBT would emerge as a major force in the next GHMC elections. Ex-corporator Amjed Ullah Khan said that the MBT has finalised its strategy to take on MIM and TRS in the next elections.

The MBT leaders also discussed preparations for the conduct of 22nd Milad Un Nabi to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) to be held on 2nd Jan 2016 at Government Junior College Grounds in Chanchalguda.

The meeting began with the reciting of Holy Quran by Hafiz Qari Naval-ul-Rahman. MBT leaders including Syed Taher, Altaf Naseeb Khan, Majid Khan, Sikandar Mirza and others addressed the meeting.
