GHMC official directed to stop illegal constructions

The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt on Monday directed Zonal Commissioner GHMC Charminar to stop the illegal constructions at Lad Bazar near Charminar.

The bench was dealing with a public interest writ petition filed by Mohd Abdul Qader. The petitioner complained that he had made representations to the GHMC about illegal constructions in the area but no action was taken by the authorities. He complained that the constructions were contrary to the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites Remains Act 1958 and the GHMC Act.
