Sri Chaitanya school kid crushed to death by faulty elevator in Dilsukhnagar

A four-year-old girl, Syeda Xainab Fatima Jaffery was crushed to death in her school’s elevator at Sri Chaitanya School in Dilsukhnagar.
The Nursery student fell down as the doors of the elevator opened while it was still in motion and was stuck between the floor and the lift. The accident took place when a school staff was taking the victim and eight of her classmates from the ground floor to the first and second floors.
East Zone DCP A. Ravinder said that the lift doors opened halfway while it was still moving and the child fell down getting crushed between the doors and the floor. Malakpet ACP Ch. Sudhakar said that the inside door of the lift was not working properly hence the lift moved even if it was not closed properly.
Fire official from the Malakpet fire station, Mr D. Tirupati said that rescue operations underwent as the Lift technicians and fire officials switched off the elevator and moved it up to retrieved the body but the child was already dead.
