Hyderabad: K Rathna Kishore, member of the State Service Tribunal on Wednesday admitted a petition filed by Assistant Professors in Medical Education Department, seeking orders that he should paid dearness allowance (DA) and other allowances as per UGC pay scales of 1996.

He also prayed for orders, declaring him eligible for career advance schemes. Dr K Lakshmi Narasimha, counsel for the petitioners, argued that the erstwhile State of AP had extended the UGC Scales to the teaching faculty in Government Medial Colleges and Dental Colleges.

He contended that the impugned action of the government in not paying these amounts right from the year 2006 till date was violative of equality clause guaranteed under the Constitution of India.
