Sangareddy: The differently-abled of Medak District gathered in large numbers on Thursday to protest at the District Collectorate. They have been on an indefinite fast since Monday. The group, led by National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD), demanded that they be provided Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards which were cancelled after the TRS government came into power.
The agitators also asked the government to provide Deepam gas connections and double-bedroom housing to the differently-abled. They also maintained that 150 days of employment in MGNREGA works be granted by the government.
The group of protesters sat in front of the Collectorate gate and vowed to continue their stir until the district administration assures them that their demands would be met in writing.
