Warangal: Relying on Telangana sentiment and the welfare measures implemented by the government, the ruling TRS is confident of retaining Warangal parliament seat with a rider on getting respectable majority.

TRS election rally at fort area in Warangal on ThursdayThe party which fielded an artist, who designed ‘Telangana Thalli’ statuette, intended to cash in on Telangana sentiment. It is often repeated by the leaders like T Harish Rao who asserted Andhra parties like TDP that supports the BJP nominee could not get votes here.

The party also intended to prove its commitment towards the poorer sections and those loyal to the party by fielding P Dayakar and funding his election expenditure. This has gone well with the masses as Congress and BJP-TDP alliance fielded big shots Sarve Satyanarayana and an NRI Dr P Devaiah.

The TRS government launched several welfare schemes and development programmes within short span. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao enjoys credibility among masses, who were well aware of the facts even as the opposition parties are desperate to defame the government, Dayakar told The Hans India on Thursday.

The party leadership has attached a minister to each assembly segment as in-charge besides making the local MLAs responsible for the party’s performance in their respective constituencies. This has paid off as the in-charges and the MLAs made all out efforts day and night to convince the voters to vote for the TRS.

Though the TRS leaders are worried over the protests at some places during the TRS campaigning, even during the CM’s public meeting on Nov 17; Deputy CM K Srihari dismissed them as orchestrated and the voters are with the party.

‘The villagers across the constituency unanimously passed resolutions to vote for the TRS and took out rallies in support of the party. This proves the support the party enjoying at ground level and how the public convinced of the government functioning,’ Srihari said.

‘Generally in by-elections, the voting per centage would be less, that’s why we repeatedly asked the voters to take part in polling in large numbers. Decline in majority could not be taken as negative vote against the government,’ Harish explained. According to the party sources, they are expecting a majority of between 1.50 to 2 lakh votes.
