Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Thursday approved the re-organisation of existing 150 wards in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The government has also asked the civic body to issue final notification to facilitate conduct of elections to the municipal body.

The GHMC on October 28 released a preliminary draft notification of 150 re-organised wards seeking objections and suggestions from political parties and residents in the twin cities. In response, the corporation has received as many as 635 objections and suggestions. Out of which, the civic body has only considered 65 objections regarding change of names and boundaries. It has also partly considered 38 suggestions from the residents and rejected remaining 532.

GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy after examining objections and suggestions forwarded the re-organised delimitation draft to the government requesting final approval. The government while approving the re-organisation through a GO No 167 asked the civic body to display ward-wise draft publication of BC voters on November 26 at all circle, MRO and MDO offices in the GHMC limits.
