Hyderabad: The Telangana Super Speciality Hospitals Association has set November 23 deadline for revision of the tariff under Aarogyasri scheme. The association has threatened to stop offering medical treatment to patients under the scheme if the tariff was not revised upward.

The association has already stopped registering patients under Aarogyasri Health Care Trust (AHCT) since November 13. It has earlier originally threatened to withdraw the Aarogyasri Health Care services from the November 15. The TISHA has agreed to continue the services till November 23 following the talks with AHCT.

According to an official in the Health Department, there was delay in releasing funds to the AHCT. It led to delay in making payment to the hospitals which offered medical services to patients under the scheme. In fact, the government later released Rs 80 crore to the AHCT.

The last upward revision of the tariff was made in 2013 by 30 per cent. Speaking to The Hans India, Dr B Bhaskar Rao, president of the TISHA said the AHCT had not cleared the bills to the hospital and no reasons were assigned for non-payment of charges for the services offered to patients under the scheme. He said the AHCT without consulting the Association had been adding new conditions bypassing MoU and conditions.

When contacted, Dr M Chandrasekhar, Chief Executive Officer of the AHCT, said the issue of revision of tariff would be decided at the next trust board meeting. Once the board approved it, the proposal to would be submitted to the government, he added. All this would take some time, he said.

Joining the issue with the association, Dr Bongu Ramesh, Honorary President of the Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGDA), said the government should not succumb to the blackmail tactics of the association. There was no need to increase the tariff, he asserted.
