GHMC chief to convene all-party meet on Nov 27

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer B Janardhan Reddy will convene an all-party meeting on November 27 to discuss enumeration of voters belonging to the Backward classes in all circles. The Commissioner on Sunday appealed to all political parties to send their representatives to attend the meeting and give suggestions on how to go about the task

Janardhan Reddy said the enumeration was at present being carried out in a very transparent manner. The door-to-door survey for identification of Backward Class voters was being carried out as per the guidelines issued in the G.O.Ms.No.444 MA&UD Department Dt.4.10.2015 under the supervision of senior and responsible officers. Supervisory officers were drafted to oversee the process at the ground level.

In addition to this, the Deputy Commissioners and Zonal Commissioners were also randomly checking the work to ensure that all the voters were covered as per the polling station list. He clarified that 33 per cent of wards would be reserved for Backward classes. The Commissioner held a review meeting with all the Zonal Commissioners on Sunday. While interacting with the officials, he enquired how the field staff were go about the task.

The GHMC had deployed over 7,000 booth-level officers and also about 10,000 staff of GHMC to take up the task of enumeration. Dr. Janardhan Reddy directed the Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to re-check the enumeration work. Once the survey for identification of Backward Class voters was completed, a draft list of ward-wise voters would be prepared, he said.
