CCI opens 5 more purchasing centres In Mahbubnagar

Following the media reports highlighting the plight of the cotton farmers, the CCI has decided to open more purchasing centres to help the ryots. Earlier the CCI had closed three out of five purchasing centres at various market yards.

Mahbubunagar: The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has opened five new cotton purchasing centres at various ginning mills in Mahbubnagar on Monday. Following the media reports highlighting the plight of the cotton farmers, the CCI has decided to open more purchasing centres to help the ryots. Earlier the CCI had closed three out of five purchasing centres at various market yards.

As the farmers have mounted pressure and took up protest against the State government, the CCI has now opened purchasing centres one each in Shadnagar, Badepally, Kalwakurthy, Nagarkurnool and Gadwal mandals. In a press release, Joint collector Ramkishan said the government would purchase cotton at minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 4,100 per quintal.
