Hyderabad: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS- BIE) on Monday announced the examination schedule of Intermediate Public Examinations. According to the schedule, the first year examinations will be held from March 2 to 19 and second year examinations from March 3 to 21. The exams will be held between 9am to 12noon.

First and second year Intermediate examinations will commence with the second language paper. Similarly Ethics, Human Values and Environmental Education exams will be conducted from 10am to 1pm on January 28 and 30, respectively.

The BIE also released the schedule for the practical examinations which will be held from February 3 to 24 for both general Intermediate and vocational courses. While there has been demand to introduce jumbling system for the practical examinations, the Board is yet to take a decision on this.

In the undivided Andhra Pradesh, Prof Dayaratnam Committee had proposed the jumbling system for the Intermediate practical examinations. The committee felt that if examinations were held in respective college laboratories, there may be high chances of favouritism. It also felt that a student’s practical knowledge should be tested outside and by external examiners. So far, the recommendations put forwarded by the committee were put in cold storage.

The Telangana government is likely to follow suit. However, according to sources, the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education is contemplating to go in for jumbling system.

The proposal is under consideration of AP Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. That apart, the fate of students in 2497 junior colleges in Telangana hangs in balance as the Board has scrapped affiliation of many colleges.

The Board which inspected the colleges gave affiliation to only 57 colleges and served notices to disaffiliated colleges asking them to rectify deficiencies. Sources in the Board said, if colleges fail to get affiliation, students in such colleges would be transferred to government junior colleges and they will have to appear from the state-run institutions.
