Hyderabad: In an effort to keep a tab on regular offenders in Cyberabad, the police have started collecting details of about 9,192 criminals living in the 44 police stations limits in Cyberabad on Monday. The week long survey would be carried out in 181 sectors located in the commissionerate limits to gather the whereabouts of offenders and maintain regular vigil to curb property offences.
According to police records, since 2009, as many as 24,707 property offenders have been arrested by the Cyberabad police, of which only 9,192 were found to be residents of Cyberabad and the remaining were from Hyderabad and from others parts of India.
The police found that among the 960 snatchers arrested since 2009, only 92 were hailing from Cyberabad while 321 were from Hyderabad and 330 were residents of Ranga Reddy district.
“The police felt that lack of supervision on property offenders due to various problems has resulted in recidivism and it has been decided to conduct an intensive survey and share the data with their counterparts,” said Cyberabad police commissioner C V Anand.
During the survey, the police will collect details of old offenders including their fingerprints, PAN and Ration cards details, Aadhaar card, gas connection details, driving licence and will verify the addresses given during the time of arrest and also the details of the counsels of the offenders.
According to reports, in LB Nagar division, the police have collected details of 155 old offenders living in Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar and Hayathnagar police stations' limits. The police found that some notorious offenders have changed their residences and some have given false addresses during their arrest. The police is now in the process of finding out their details from their relatives.
Commissioner Anand visited a former criminal’s house named M Naresh of Hafeezpet in Miyapur. He was counseled by the police and helped him start an eatery near his residence as part of the rehabilitation drive.
Following the visit, the Commissioner said “Naresh was an offender.
He has given up crime and is running a Biryani center near his residence successfully and is earning handsomely. It is good that the counseling has worked and he has started a new life, enjoying it with his family.”
