K Chandrashekar RaoHyderabad: The Telangana government on Tuesday declared 231 mandals as drought-hit. The State government has sent a report to the Centre and sought immediate assistance of Rs 1,000 crore.

The announcement was made after a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at his camp office on Tuesday.

The meeting was also attended by Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary Revenue B R Meena, CMO Secretary S Narsing Rao and other senior officials.

The drought hit mandals include all 64 mandals of Mahabubnagar, 46 mandals of Medak and 36 mandals of Nizamabad. Similarly, 33 out of 37 mandals in Ranga Reddy, 19 out of 57 mandals in Karimnagar, 22 out of 59 mandals in Nalgonda and 11 out of 51 mandals of Warangal district have been declared drought hit.
