Hyderabad: Speculations are rife that the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has offered to quit owning moral responsibility for the party’s drubbing in the justconcluded Warangal by elections. It may be mentioned here that the party forfeited deposit in Warangal bypoll for the first time in last 60 years.

Gandhi Bhavan was agog with the rumours that Uttam Kumar Reddy had sent a letter to the party high command, requesting it to relieve him from the party president’s post. He has gone into hibernation since the results were announced and was not even responding to telephone calls.

Sources said the party Vice President Rahul Gandhi spoke to the TPCC chief over phone and asked him to submit a detailed report on the party’s dismal performance. This is the second election the party had lost after Uttam Kumar Reddy took over as the party president.

Earlier in the biennial election to Ranga Reddy Hyderabad Mahbubnagar Graduate constituency won Congress candidate lost to TDP- BJP candidate N Ramachander Rao and Nalgonda Warangal Khammam graduate constituency was retained by TRS.

The party has now another litmus test to face as it has to face the biennial election to 12 seats in the Telangana under Legislative Council from Local Authorities Constituencies (LAC) and GHMC elections scheduled to be held in next two months.
