TUV to felicitate Telangana agitators

Nalgonda: Telangana Udyama Vedika (TUV), Praja Telangana and Bachao Telangana, which played a key role in fighting for separate Telangana State, have jointly decided to record the history of Telangana agitation as narrated by Telangana agitators in video and text formats to present it to future generations.

Disclosing this to the media here on Friday, TUV state convener Dr Cheruku Sudhakar said that thousands of people and students, who faced police lathis and went to jails for the cause of Telangana, did not get the due recognition that they deserved after the formation of the Telangana State.

Unfortunately, they remained as unsung heroes, he lamented. Sudhakar said that when they met the political leaders, who backed the demand for Telangana statehood at the Central level, they enquired whether the people of Telangana still remembered their contribution or not. Hence, the three organisations have decided to felicitate such people at a function in Hyderabad in the last week of February in 2016, he added.

Praja Telangana leader Innaiah felt that recording the history of Telangana agitation in the version given by those who actively participated in the agitation, would only help us to present the events correctly to the next generations. The history written by other writers may be misinterpreted, he opined. He said that the recorded videos and text on the Telangana agitation would be uploaded on a website for public view.
