Telangana State to pay honorarium to Imams, Mouzzin

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has introduced a novel scheme of payment of honorarium of Rs 1,000 per month to the Imam and Mouzzin of mosques in the State and called online applications from all the eligible candidates up to December 30.

The Imam and Mouzzin can upload their applications along with scanned copies of the Aadhaar Card, bank pass book, residential proof, a letter from the Mosque Committee or the trustee of the masjid and a photograph on www.waqf.telangana.gov.in or through Mee-Seva.

The scheme would be implemented by the Telangana State Wakf Board. All the full time Imams and Mouzzins of the mosques are entitled for the honorarium, which would be paid on quarterly basis and the beneficiaries would have to submit a certificate from the authorities of the mosques concerned about continuation of their services.

A scrutiny committee has been constituted by the Wakf Board to evaluate the genuineness of the applications. Legal action would be initiated against any person who wrongfully received the honorarium besides recovering the amount paid under Recovery of Land Revenue Act.
