Raja Singh taken into preventive custody

Hyderabad: Amidst tension over Osmania University students’ Beef Festival, the police on Thursday took Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh into preventive custody from his house. Later, he was shifted to the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police at Goshamahal.

It may be mentioned here that the BJP legislator, who is a staunch cow protection leader, had declared that he would prevent the proposed beef festival by the OU students under any circumstances. Asserting that he was not opposing the beef festival for political gains, Raja Singh said nothing would happen with his arrest by the police.

He said beef festival should not be organised at a sacred place like Osmania University where students were taught and groomed into future leaders of the country. Raja Singh also slammed State BJP president G Kishen Reddy for being silent on the decision of the OU students. Meanwhile, a number of BJP workers in the area attempted to barge into the ACP’s office.
