The election to local bodies constituency MLC seat in the district is set to be unanimous in favour of the ruling TRS. With this the TRS, which already drubbed Congress and BJP-TDP alliance in the recent Warangal parliament by-election, is poised to get an upper hand over the opposition parties in the district. In all, a total of six nominations have been filed for the election, including the TRS nominee, Konda Muralidhar Rao. The scrutiny of nominations took place on Thursday. The Returning Officer, Prashanth J Patil has rejected the nomination by an independent, A Narender Reddy, as his nomination was incomplete. Warangal:Warangal: The election to local bodies’ constituency MLC seat in the district is set to be unanimous in favour of the ruling TRS.
Given the fact that except for the ruling TRS, there are none in the fray from opposition parties as Congress, BJP-TDP shied away from the contest and the decision by four independents to pull out of the contest, the election of the TRS nominee would be unanimous by all means. Three leaders of Telangana MPTCs Forum - J Mahboob Reddy, D Chandramouli and M Mallesh - who have filed nominations for the election on December 7 have withdrawn their nominations on Thursday.
They submitted their withdrawal letters to the Returning Officer even as the withdrawal of nominations is scheduled to on Friday and Saturday. According to the Returning Officer, their withdrawal of nominations would officially be accepted on Friday.
Hence the announcement of TRS nominee Muralidhar Rao getting elected unopposed could only be made after 3 pm on Saturday after the official time for withdrawal of nominations is over. It might be noted that indicating their possible withdrawal from the contest, the MPTCs Forum leaders Mahboob Reddy, Chandramouli and Mallesh have joined the TRS rally, that was taken out during the party nominee Muralidhar Rao’s filing of nomination in Hanamkonda on Wednesday.
Ever since the election notification for the MLC election was issued, the TRS district leadership has been seriously engaged in making the election unanimous. The party leaders approached those filed nominations seeking to withdraw their nominations. On the other hand, TDLP leader E Dayakar Rao’s support to Chandramouli, who is associated with the TRS, turned futile.
‘Even though polling is conducted, winning the election is a cake walk for us as we got strength of more than 600 votes of the total 862 votes,’ TRS district president T Ravinder Rao told The Hans India. Meanwhile, celebrations erupted at the residence of Muralidhar Rao as his followers took out a procession carrying him on their shoulders.
