Hyderabad: Two persons, an employee of Amazon and his friend, who earlier worked with Amazon, Hyderabad, were arrested by the Chikkadpally police for cheating Flipkart by falsely claiming to have received a paper and rubber instead of an iPhone that they had ordered.

The accused were identified as Atul Sharma, an employee of Amazon and his friend Naveen Kumar, a former employee. Naveen Kumar, a resident of Hyderabad, ordered an Apple ‘iPhone 6’ of Rs 51,590 through Flipkart in the second week of December. The mobile was delivered to Naveen the next day. He claimed that instead of an iPhone, Flipkart delivered him a paper and rubber inside the box. In good faith, Flipkart refunded the entire amount to Naveen.

In the recent past, there have been a number of customers who claimed to have received stones, empty boxes instead of ordered items from e-commerce companies. Consequently, a concerned employee of Flipkart lodged a complaint with the Chikkadpally police about the missing mobile phone from the company store and shared the IMEI details with the police. On thorough investigation into the case, the police arrested Naveen Kumar and Atul Sharma on Thursday. During interrogation, they confessed to have jointly involved in the fraud and sold the mobile phone to Manish Sharma.
