Mahabubnagar: Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal on Thursday called for steps to ensure peaceful conduct of the MLC polls from local bodies.

Addressing a video conference with the collectors and SPs, he reviewed the poll arrangements. He wanted officials to supply two ballot boxes to each polling centre. The boxes should be perfect without which the polling could be impacted, Bhanwar Lal stressed.

The CEO asked the zonal and sectoral officers to frequently inspect the polling centres and take up webcasting both inside and outside the booths so as to ensure orderly and peaceful polling. They should rule out bogus voting and take care of claims of illiterate voters to allow help.

Collector T K Sridevi said 274 applications from helpers to voters were being closely checked. Metal detectors, webcasting and video facilities were being provided at all polling centres.

Returning Officer and Joint Collector Ramkishan, Assistant Returning Officer and DRO Bhaskar, RDO Hanmanth Reddy, CEO of ZP Lakshminarayana and DSP Krishnamurthy were among those present. Earlier, the collector called on the special election observers. She inspected the polling centre in the MPDO’s office and the counting centre in Ambedkar Kala Bhavan.
