Asaduddin Owaisi seeks Schedule Caste status to Mehter community
Hyderabad MP and MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, along with representatives of Valmiki Samaj Seva Society (Mehter Community), met Hyderabad district collector Rahul Bojja here on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad MP and MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, along with representatives of Valmiki Samaj Seva Society (Mehter Community), met Hyderabad district collector Rahul Bojja here on Tuesday.
He explained the pending issue of inclusion of the community under Schedule Caste (SC) and asked him to provide them certificates.
He also brought to the notice of the collector that they had been residing in the city for last 50 years and were facing difficulties in getting caste certificates despite several representations.
The collector assured Owaisi that the issue would be sorted out shortly. He found this to be a genuine issue and assured him of issuing SC certificates to Mehter community after analysing various aspects.
Owaisi had represented similar issue of Nakkala Pittalolu community earlier. After his representation, the government notified Nakkala Pittalolu as Schedule Tribes. Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, general secretary of the MIM and MIM MLA accompanied Owaisi.
