One killed, 16 hurt as bus falls off bridge

Adilabad: One person was killed and 16 others injured when a State-run bus fell off a bridge in Adilabad district on Tuesday, the police said. The incident occurred near a village under Easgaon police station limits at around 6.15 am when the bus carrying about 30 passengers was on its way from Kagaznagar mandal to Bejjur of the district, the police said.

“According to the bus driver, owing to some mechanical fault in the bus, he lost control over the wheels and the bus fell off a bridge, resulting indeath of one passenger and injuries to 16 others,” Kagaznagar Police Circle Inspector Ramesh Babu said. All the injured were shifted to different hospitals in Adilabad and Karimnagar districts, the Inspector said, adding that four out of them sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
