Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy of the High Court at Hyderabad on Thursday directed the GHMC to issue 48 hours’ notice before using private hoardings and unipoles and not exceed the quota of 10% provided under the relevant rules.

The judge made the interim order in a writ plea filed by Outdoor Advertisement Media and other advertisers questioning the action of the GHMC in unilaterally imposing a compulsion that 10% of all hoardings must carry government activities.

Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioner contended that the decision of time and space is at the whims of the authorities which is contrary to law.

It is also contended that there is no audit pattern in place on the 10% ceiling leaving the petitioners completely to the fate of the authorities.
