Tandur: The Telangana government would take every step to protect minorities and their properties, said MLC D Rajeswara Rao. He was addressing a meeting organised by the representatives of the Methodist Church at William Moon High School here on Saturday.

The meeting was organised to highlight the misdeeds of some people, who were trying to sell the properties of the church. Representatives of the church, Mark and Manik Rao, said that 8 acres and 11 kuntas of land in the survey number 49 belonged to American missionaries.

The land was given to the missionaries in 1936 for the services they rendered in the fields of education, health, and providing shelter for the homeless. They alleged that some people from the missionary were trying to sell the land to real estate agents by creating fake documents.

The representatives of the Church said they would resist and go to any extent for protecting the property. While addressing the gathering, MLC Rajeswara Rao assured them of taking the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister. Christians from various districts including Hyderabad and Karnataka were present.
