Parvatagiri (Warangal): Senior Congress leaders demanded the State government to order a probe by sitting High Court judge into the mysterious death of two tribal girls, Banothu Priyanka and Banothu Bhoomika of Parvathagiri.

A delegation of leaders, comprising former ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy, J Geeta Reddy, D K Aruna, V Sunitha Laxma Reddy, P Balram Naik and Baswaraju Saraiah, former mayor Errabelli Swarna, former MLA K Sridhar and others have visited the family members of the deceased girls at Narayanpuram thanda in Parvatagiri mandal on Saturday.

It might be recalled that the two minor girls were found dead at Khaderpetgutta in Chennaraopet mandal on December 27, 2015. The girls, studying ninth class at social welfare hostel at Muduchekkalapally in Nallabelli mandal, went missing since November 23, 2015 regarding which a case was registered at Parvatagiri police station.

Referring to the incident, the visiting Congress leaders held the State government as responsible. Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Geetha Reddy alleged that the incident occurred due to the negligence and incapability of the government.

Former home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy described the death of the students as the murder committed by the government while strongly condemning the lack of proper security and care for the students at government hostels.

The Congress leaders have demanded the government to initiate immediate measures to prevent reoccurrence of such untoward incidents in the future. The party would fight until the culprits were punished and justice done to the family members, they asserted.

Senior Congress leaders Hari Ramadevi, Errabelli Varada Rajeshwara Rao, district Congress ST Cell president Naveen Naik and others were present.

DCCB Chairman J Raghava Reddy and PCC secretary B Prabhakar Reddy have called on the visiting leaders on their arrival here.

Meanwhile, former MLA Seetakka of TDP complained that the police officials were trying to depict the death of the students as suicide in a bid to protect the accused involved in the incident. She also wanted a detailed probe into the incident by sitting judge.
