2,840 centres for pulse polio

Karimnagar: Elaborate arrangements were made for the pulse polio programme in the district to be held on January 17 and 18. Besides primary health centres and other places, polio centres would also be setup in bus stands, railway stations to administer drops to travelling children.

A total of 2,840 centres including 2,415 in towns and 425 in rural areas were established to give vaccine to 4,26,273 children. Besides 44 travelling groups, about 86 mobile centres including 71 in rural and 15 towns were established. 370 vehicles have been arranged to travel 284 observers.

Disclosing the details about the polio campaign, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Aleem informed that 3,177 families were staying in danger places wherein there were 3,526 children. Polio centres were also established in bus stands, railway stations, children hospitals, maternity hospitals. Five observes from Hyderabad arrived the district to monitor programme, he informed.
