Nalgonda: District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy, on Saturday, flagged off an awareness rally on intensified pulse polio immunization programme, which would be taken up on Sunday. District Medical and Health Office staff took out a rally from DMHO office to Clock Tower Centre in the town.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector underlined the importance of administering pulse polio drops to children without fail. 2,935 Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) booths and 33 additional booths would be setup at various points in urban and rural areas to administer pulse polio to children aged between 0-5 years, he added.

The District Collector said that 79 mobile teams would also be pressed into service for the purpose. About 11,884 employees including medical staff, teachers and ASHA workers would be deputed for the programme. In all, 294 supervisors would also monitor the IPPI programme in the district.
