Vijayawada/Guntur: All party leaders demanded extension of last date for submission of objections on master plan till March. In this connection, they submitted a memorandum to Commissioner of CRDA here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, former Minister and YSR Congress leader K Parthasarathi said that the government has been trying to implement the capital master plan unilaterally. He said the CRDA officials failed to organise awareness programmes in the capital region. He said that the government has earmarked agricultural zones in several villages to concentrate on development of seed capital area.

PCC vice-president Devineni Rajasekhar said that the CRDA officials should bring awareness on master plan and the government should protect the interests of farmers of capital region. He said if the government fails to extend the last date for submitting objections from January 25, the all-party committee would launch an agitation.

CPM capital committee convener Ch Babu Rao said without consulting the local bodies, the government has declared agricultural zones. He said that the master plan is prepared to benefit Singapore companies and added that an independent commission should be appointed to receive the objections on master plan.

Meanwhile in Guntur, an all-party delegation involving CPM, CPI and YSRCP leaders submitted a memorandum to CRDA leaders in Thullur on Thursday, demanding redefining of the capital master plan and honoring of objections raised by farmers and local people.

Addressing participants at the demonstration staged by the left parties and also the YSRCP at the CRDA office, CPM district secretary Pasham Rama Rao has called for a democratic dialogue with stakeholders on the capital master plan.

He said that several changes must be made in the master plan by honoring the objections raised by farmers and local people. The master plan must be redefined to include changes suggested by the people.
