Khammam: YSR Congress will always support rural doctors, assured MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy at the 15th conference of Rural Doctors Association at SR Gardens here on Sunday.

Participating as chief guest at the conference, the MP said former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced several schemes for the welfare of rural doctors.

It was during his tenure as Chief Minister, training was given to Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs) and certificates were issued. After his death, the governments had not taken any steps for the welfare of the rural doctors, he said.

Stating that several doctors were working in villages and facing lot of problems, he alleged that the government was not providing even minimum facilities for them.

The government must issue white ration cards and double bedroom houses to the doctors working in villages and protecting the health of rural people. He also demanded that pensions be sanctioned to aged doctors.

The MP assured the rural doctors that YSR Congress would always support their demands. Rural Doctors Association district president B Venkateshwarlu, YSRCP Doctor’s forum district secretary M Nagabhushanam, party leaders A Murthy, M Niranjan Reddy, L Kamala Raj, CH Mohan Rao, K Venkatanarayana and A Veera Bhadram were present along with others.
