As the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections are underway, the political parties are worried about voting percentage. The previous municipal elections held in Hyderabad witnessed poor voter turnout. Only 28 percent voters cast their vote in the elections held in 2002 while 43.27 per cent voters exercised their franchise in 2009 GHMC elections.

However, according to GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy, this year's elections voting percentage is definitely on the rise. He stated that the percentage of voting has risen due to the arrangements made for the elections and also the awareness campaigns that were held ahead of the polls.

Regarding to the missing voters, the Commissioner informed that the voters check against their election ID number as to which division they come under and cast their votes accordingly as the voters did not inform their change of address.
