HANS IMPACT

Luxettipet (Adilabad): People, of late, started patronising the government hospital here since its functioning has been streamlined. Patients started flocking to the medical facility if the non-availability of beds is any indication.

Daily on an average 150-200 patients are visiting the hospital to avail themselves of medical facilities. It may be recalled that The Hans India brought to light the pathetic state of affairs in the hospital through its columns on January 23, 2016.

Consequently, the hygiene and sanitation in and around the hospital improved, duty doctors are promptly reporting and pharmacy has been stocked with adequate medicines including those for snake and dog bites. Drawing and Disbursing Officer Dr Rakesh, hospital medical officers Sailaja, Sunita and Sekhar are making themselves available to patients.

Special attention is being paid to ensure expectant mothers undergo normal deliveries. Gynaecology experts of the hospital advise pregnant women against visiting private nursing homes since better amenities to undergo institutional deliveries at government hospital are readily available.

They appeal to people not to spend their hard earned money on private hospitals and asked them to remove stereotypes from their minds about government hospitals. Stating that the doctors at the government hospital are available here round the clock, the doctors exhorted people of Luxettipet, Dandepalli and Jinnaram mandals to make better use of the hospital services.

In fact, two medical officers are being available at the hospital from 9 am to 2 pm. Similarly, the afternoon shift will have two medical officers taking care of the patients. In addition, one night duty medical officer is available to take care of medical emergencies, they added. The hospital authorities maintain that accident cases and poison cases are being attended to at a complete level. Further, the hospital has a full-time laboratory technician on duty.

The hospital authorities contend that a full-time dental medical officer is available at the government hospital and hence there is no need for villagers to go far off places like Mancherial for undergoing dental treatment. They said that an X-ray technician was available in the hospital but equipment was not functioning.

They said that they would take up the issue with the higher authorities and ensure that it would have X-ray equipment and operation theatre.

A consulting room exclusively to cater to the needs of out-patients has been provided in the hospital, which is in a dilapidated condition. Several people appeal to the authorities to immediately provide a pucca building to shift the hospital from the dilapidated structure to a permanent building.
