Nizamabad: The Telangana Mid-day Meal Agencies Workers Association on Monday staged a protest under the aegis of CITU in-front of district Collectorate to resolve their long pending demands like releasing pending bills, payments of minimum wages, and provide job security to the workers.

On the occasion, hundreds of workers staged a protest and raised slogans against the government and tried to barge into the Collectorate. But the police foiled their attempt to enter into the Collectorate.

Ramesh Babu, CITU District General Secretary, said that thousands of workers of the mid-day meal agencies were suffering in district as the government remained indifferent to their problems, He that said in many areas, these agencies were being run by borrowing money from money lenders, and the workers were being harassed by them, he lamented.

T. Chakrapani, MDM Workers Union, District General Secretary said that the Tamil Nadu government was sanctioning Rs 5,500 along with the TAs and DAs to the workers, but in Telangana they were not being paid in time and they were facing several hardships. He demanded the government to immediately pay the bills on time and provide monthly salaries to the workers.
