Thousands of families benefited by MGNREGS: Dist Collector
Around 55,000 families were provided with 100 days of work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), 45,000 families got more than 75 days of work till March 2016 and more than 1 lakh families were provided with 100 days of employment, said the Nizamabad District Collector Yogita Rana in the town on Tuesday.
Dichpally (Nizamabad): Around 55,000 families were provided with 100 days of work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), 45,000 families got more than 75 days of work till March 2016 and more than 1 lakh families were provided with 100 days of employment, said the Nizamabad District Collector Yogita Rana in the town on Tuesday.
Addressing a review meeting on the MGNREGS works with change agents, MPDOs, MPPs and district level officials at TTDC training centre at Dichpally, the District Collector said that these employment works enhanced the confidence levels among the rural people, and the Nizamabad district got recognition and bagged award at the national level.
She said that nearly 15, 000 families got 150 days of employment in the district till March this year and 50, 000 families got 150 days of employment. For those who already got 150 days of employment, government would try to provide 200 days of employment, the Collector added.
Rana said that in the district till now, Rs 216 crore worth works were provided under the MGNREGS and another Rs 150 crore worth works would be provided till March, 2016. In this, funds worth Rs 60 crore were allotted to construct the infrastructure facilities through Panchayatiraj Department in the villages.
She said that under Swacch Nizamabad scheme, nearly 23, 000 lavatories were sanctioned in the Nizamabad Rural, Banswada, Armoor and Balkonda constituencies, another 40, 000 lavatories would be sanctioned within one week, collector Rana added. Earlier, district officials felicitated Yogita Rana for putting Nizamabad district on top in the implementation of MGNREGS works at the national level.
Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy, Addditional Joint Collector Rajaram, ZP CEO Mohan lal, DWMA PD Venkateshwarlu, IKP Project Director Venkatesham and others were present.
