Two daily wage labourers were buried alive after an agricultural well caved in near Jagannathapuram of Yelkaturthi mandal on Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. The incident occurred while the deceased were drilling holes to a stone that surfaced in the well.

Karimnagar: Two daily wage labourers were buried alive after an agricultural well caved in near Jagannathapuram of Yelkaturthi mandal on Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. The incident occurred while the deceased were drilling holes to a stone that surfaced in the well. According to police, Gutam Narsimha Reddy, a resident of Jagannathapuram, hired four labourers from Koppur of Bheemadavarapalli mandal to dig his agricultural well. A stone surfaced in the well at the depth of 48 feet.

While the workers were drilling holes to blast the stone, a huge quantity of soil caved in. The soil of the side walls of the well got lose due to the vibrations of drilling machines and fell on the workers. While Vallepu Mallaiah (50) and his nephew Kasturi Raju (25) were died on the spot, the injured Sura Ramesh and Kasturi Raju were shifted a hospital in Karimnagar for medical treatment. Police registered the case and investigating into the incident.
