Deputy CM releases pictorial book on Sammakka Saralamma jatara

​Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari and Tourism Minister A Chandulal have on Tuesday released a pictorial book on historic Sammakka Saralamma jatara. The book was published by Kakatiya Heritage Trust (KHT) with the financial assistance from Kapil Group, Singareni Collieries and NMDC marking the first celebration of jatara in separate Telangana.

Speaking after releasing the book at Town Hall in Public Gardens in Hanamkonda, Kadiyam Srihari expressed pleasure over the publication of the book and appreciated the donors for their assistance. He stressed on the need to propagate the culture and traditions of Telangana across the globe. The book could help to further spread the significance of Sammakka Saralamma jatara which is a popular event in entire Asia after Kumbh Mela, he added.

The book contains about 250 photographs captured over the past 50 fifty years of jatara celebration by 16 well known photographers of Telangana. The earliest photographs were taken by late Krishna who hails from Medaram. It was edited by reputed filmmaker and writer B Narsinga Rao. Later, Deputy Chief Minister Srihari has felicitated Kapil Group Executive Director M Satyanarayana Rao and presented him the book.
