Khammam: Laying foundation stones to Bhakta Ramdas and Seetharama Lift Irrigation Projects as part of his two-day visit to Khammam here on Tuesday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao assured the people of Telangana that one crore acres of land would be made fertile in the State.

Before laying foundation stone in Thirumalayapalem mandal of Palair constituency, Rao, accompanied with Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, visited the Sri Seetharamachandra Swamy temple in Mutharam village in Mudigonda mandal and offered special prayers.

Addressing a meeting at Thirumalayapalem, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said, "By completing the Bhakta Ramadas project at a cost of Rs 90.87 crore before Khariff season, irrigation water will be supplied to 59,000 acres of land in Thirumalayapalem, Khammam Rural, Kusumanchi and Nelakondapalli mandals."

He also said, "Many welfare schemes are introduced by the government because it is our responsibility. No one had demanded us to introduce Rs 1,000 pension, Kalyana Lakshmi scheme or to provide fine rice for hostel students. We did not introduce such schemes for the sake of votes or for name sake. We did it for the welfare of the poor people so that they can live with self respect in the society."

“From March 31 onwards, Kalyana Lakshmi scheme will be implemented to all ST, SC, Minority and BCs who have ration card. Fine rice will be provided for the college and university hostel students also. Three-phase uninterrupted power supply will be given in coming up years and from Ugadi onwards nine hours of power will be supplied,” Rao said.

The Chief Minister also said, “Many other states are inspired by the schemes of Telangana state and the projects like Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha, Kalyana Lakshmi and double bedroom houses. We are going to construct two lakh double bedroom houses for the poor people at a cost of Rs. 14,000 crores in coming year”.

“Some of the people’s organisations like PDSU and political parties like New Democracy are trying to play cheap tricks and politics to get publicity. If they continue to play such silly tricks, the government would use iron hand on them,” KCR warned. He thanked the people for voting TRS to victory in Narayankhed by-elections. He also congratulated Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao for playing a key role in bringing making the party win the polls.
