Boy missing as boat capsizes
A ten-year old boy, Burri Vamshi was missing when a country-made boat capsized in River Godavari near Metpalli of Mahadevpur mandal on Sunday evening.
Karimnagar: A ten-year old boy, Burri Vamshi was missing when a country-made boat capsized in River Godavari near Metpalli of Mahadevpur mandal on Sunday evening.
A resident of Adivarampet of Kataram mandal, Vamshi along with his mother Laxmi was returning to his native village from Maharashtra.
The boat ferrying passengers to Kaleshwaram from Sironcha of Gadchiroli district of Maharastra overturned at Metpalli. The incident occurred near a temporary bridge set up to transport material for the construction of a permanent bridge which is going on.
Besides three bikes, about 20 persons were on board at the time of incident and elderly people managed to climb to the top of the temporary bridge. However, Vamshi went missing as he does not know swimming.
Special rescue team police from Sironcha rushed to the spot and searched for the boy in the water. Police registered a case and investigation is on.
