Hyderabad: Consequent to a report published in these columns under the heading ‘Land Sharks flourish on prime wakf lands’, one of the claimants of the parcel of land in question under Survey Number 335/1,2,3 at M M Pahadi has challenged the Wakf Board’s claim.

Speaking to The Hans India, Mohd Riyazuddin, the claimant said the Wakf Board had wrongly notified the parcel of land in question in the 2004 AP Gazette. He said the civil court had rejected the claim of the Wakf Board in 1976. “This was confirmed by the High Court on April 23, 1999. In violation of the Supreme Court orders, the lands under Survey Number 335/1,2,3 were wrongly included in the gazette notification. The said Gazette has no validity,” said the claimant.

“Wakf Board is only Nigrankar (supervisor), it cannot be called an owner. It does not have the title authority or any interest on the said land parcel,” explained Riyazuddin.
