Polio drops essential to immunise children, says Mayor

Nizamabad: Each and every parent should ensure that polio drops are administered to their children to prevent the polio disease from spreading in our county, said Nizamabad Mayor Aakula Sujatha here on Sunday. She launched the pulse polio programme in the town along with District Collector Yogita Rana Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sujatha said that steps were being taken to completely eradicate polio form India. But it was prevalent in our neighbouring countries and may spread into India also. As such, each and every child in the district should be provided polio drops to eradicate this disease, she added.

In her speech, the District Collector said that district administration made all arrangements for conducting the pulse polio program in Nizamabad district, There are 3,36,469 children who were between the ages of zero to five years and they setup a total of 1760 polio centers in the Nizamabad district. Among these, 318 are situated in rrban areas, 1360 in rural areas and the services of 7,480 staff were utilised for conducting the the pulse polio program, the District Collector added. District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Venkat, MHO Dr. Sirajuddin, Government hospital superintendent Dr. Narender Reddy and other participated.
