Nine nomination papers were filed on the first day on Monday for the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation elections in Warangal. Four BJP, two TRS, one Telugu Desam and two independent candidates are said to have filed nominations. The BJP candidates are,  Harisekhar (14th division), Bommisetty Vikram (40th division), K Madhavi (47th division) and Goutham Raju (56th division).

While Ganta Ravi Kumar and Sara Sambaiah filed nominations from TRS, Kishan Redy and Siddam Raju are the independent. Suresh of TDP filed nomination for 27th division. TPCC Working President and Coordination committee member for GWMC elections Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said: “We have finalised at least 50 candidates unanimously.

The selection process of candidates will be completed by Tuesday.” He appealed people not fall prey to the TRS’ promises as the ruling party failed miserably in all aspects. Meanwhile, the BJP coordination committee headed by Khairatabad MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, former MLA M Dharma Rao, former Mayor T Rajeshwar Rao and urban president Chintakula Sunil, who met here on Monday, announced 23 candidates.

The leaders made it clear that there will be no poll pact with the Telugu Desam in the GWMC elections. Expressing confidence that they will win all 58 divisions, the Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari said that the exercise of selecting candidates for the GWMC is in progress.
