Dalit advocates, who were suspended from Karimnagar Bar Association for interrupting former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, L Narsimha Reddy’s lecture on Dr BR Ambedkar, launched relay hunger strike in front of the district court here on Monday. They demanded revoke of their suspension. They also wanted to conduct an enquiry into the entire episode.

Karimnagar: Dalit advocates, who were suspended from Karimnagar Bar Association for interrupting former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, L Narsimha Reddy’s lecture on Dr BR Ambedkar, launched relay hunger strike in front of the district court here on Monday. They demanded revoke of their suspension. They also wanted to conduct an enquiry into the entire episode.

Budida Mallesham, Kattekola Laxman, Janagama Narsingh, Nisani Ramachandram and Bahujan Student Federation state president, Jakkam Ganesh launched the stir. CPM district secretary Geetla Mukunda Reddy launched the relay hunger strike and representatives of various people’s organisations extended their support to dalit advocates.

Addressing the gathering, Bahujana Rachaitala Sangham state coordinator and lecturer at Osmania University, Dr Jilakara Srinivas alleged that Karimnagar Bar Association has become a centre for RSS and BJP activities. He found fault with bar association for suspending dalit advocates without issuing show cause notice.

Stating that there were doubts over Narsimha Reddy’s judgement on Chundur massacre, he said that people have a right to express their opinion on the judgements and sought clarification. Demanding the revoke of suspension, advocates wanted to enquiry into the incident took place in the court during the time of Narsimha Reddy’s speech.

They also wanted action to be taken against bar association for humiliating district judges by not inviting them onto the dais wherein RSS southern states pracharak Appala Prasad was secured the seat.Telangana Agricultural Workers Union district secretary Bhutam Sarangapani, Telangana Praja Front state working committee member Veeragoni Pentaiah, Civil Liberities Committee leaders Rajagopal and Sucharitha, Mulnivasi Sangh leader Marvadi Sudarshan, TDUF leader Gopal Bhushan Rao, Kula Vivaksha Porata Samithi leaders and others extended their support for advocates’ stir.
