Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to increase the number of garbage transfer stations from 11 to 21. The GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and his team are inspecting several locations in the city to identify suitable land for the new stations.

As part of the process, the Commissioner today inspected the sewerage treatment plant (STP) at Amberpet and directed the plant officials to use four acres of the available 45 acre land for setting up a transfer station near the STP.

The remaining nine transfer stations would be finalised after holding discussions with Rangareddy and Hyderabad district collectors, the Commissioner said. He also requested them to identify land to set up garbage transfer stations in the city limits.
