Khammam: All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) state vice-president Mande Veera Hanumantha Rao accused the Central and State governments of resorting to anti-farmer policies. Addressing a meeting here on Saturday, he criticised the Centre and State for not protecting the interests of farming community.

He blamed the government for not implementing any tangible solution for the sufferings of peasants in the country. “The agriculture sector is being pushed into crisis with the policies of the government that largely help the capitalists,” he said. Referring to the GO 214, he found fault with the Telangana government for acquiring land from the farmers.

To discuss on various issues relating to farmers, the AIKS is organising a public meeting at Nizam College Grounds in Hyderabad from March 3 to 6, the leader said, appealing to farmers to attend in large numbers. District president Adapa Ramakotaiah, Tenant Farmers Association state leader Midikanti Chinna Venkat Reddy, Dondapati Ramesh, Puchakayala Sudhakar and Surender were present.

Praja Natya Mandali singer Dasari Ramu enthralled the crowds with his songs. Earlier, the AIKS leaders garlanded the statue of the CPI leader Giri Prasad at Bus Station centre.
